Caulfield Guineas
The 2018 Caulfield Guineas will run on Saturday 13th October 2018 at Caulfield Racecourse in Melbourne, Victoria.
First run in 1881, the $2,000,000 Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) is a classic mile race for three-year-olds, where the winning galloper tends to continue on to become a genuine star of the turf.
The Caulfield Guineas is widely regarded as the race where stallions are made, with the honour roll of winners including includes horses of the ilk of All Too Hard, Starspangledbanner, Lonhro, Redoute’s Choice and Mahogany.
Back in the day, legends of the turf such as Tulloch & Ajax, also etched their names as winners of this prestigious race.
Caulfield Guineas day kicks off the three-day Caulfield Cup Carnival alight with an exciting day of thoroughbred racing action for punters. The $500,000 Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) for fillies is held alongside its male equivalent, along with two more feature Group 1 races, the Caulfield Stakes (2000m) and Toorak Handicap (1600m).
2018 Caulfield Guineas Day
Caulfield Guineas day heralds the start of the three-day Caulfield spring racing carnival in early October, with Blue Sapphire day taking place the following Wednesday.
Three days later on Saturday, the Melbourne Racing Club’s premier event of the spring, the $3,000,000 Group 1 Caulfield Cup, highlights the final day of the Caulfield Cup carnival at Caulfield. The Caulfield Classic (2000m) also takes place on Caulfield Cup Day.

2017 Caulfield Guineas result
Mick Price trained three-year-old Mighty Boss scored a huge upset in last year’s Caulfield Guineas winning at 100/1 under the guidance of jockey Michael Walker in a time of 1:36.04.
Mighty Boss defeated Kementari, from the James Cummings stable, by 0.30 lengths, with Lindsay Park filly Catchy a further 0.80 lengths away in third place.
